PAST EXHIBITIONS

  • On Demand

    January 6 2025 - March 29 2025

A Guest curatorial project by Caroline Sinders, On Demand, brought together multiple artists from across the US to present a multivalent and layered look at some of the externalities of the Dobbs decision. Inspired by protest movements, self published periodicals, zines, protest signs, and community-activated art, these pieces act as spaces of activation and urgency, as calls to arms, and as markers of this unprecedented political moment.

  • BODY FREEDOM FOR EVERY(BODY) HQ

    July 9 2024-March 29 2025

The BODY FREEDOM FOR EVERY(BODY) HQ introduced the project to the local community and served as a think tank for planning and conversations on Reproductive Justice, Queer Liberation, and Trans Joy.  Throughout the summer, the location morphed to include different activations and programs in preparation for the ongoing mobile exhibition tour.

  • Future People...Take Off

    March 24 2024 - May 25 2024

Derrick Adams’ “Future People… Take Off” was an imagined environment meditating on past, present, and future ideas of Black culture and its interest in futurism and African roots. Inspired by the  Afrofuturist movement, Derrick Adams’ installation referenced Sun Ra’s film Space is the Place, the television series Star Trek, and Kerry James Marshall’s painting Keeping the Culture. From a simulated spaceship, viewers see the solar system and the stars beyond; the immediate celestial bodies of our sun, planets, and moons share space with images of African tribal objects, people, and items of technology and design.
